Rava Kichadi
Rava Kichadi is a famous South Indian Breakfast recipe which is made out of Roasted Rava and Combination of Vegetables and Whole spices.It Tastes very well with Coconut Chutney and Dhal Sambar.
Serves-5
Cooking Time-10 mins
Adjust the Ingredients according to the number of persons you cook for.
Ingredients:
Oil-2 tbsp
Ghee-2 tbsp
Fennel seeds-1 spoon
Bay leaf-1
Star anise-1
Cinnamon-1
Mustard seeds-3 tsp
Cumin seeds-1 spoon
Garlic-5 cloves(finely chopped)
Urad dhal-1 spoon
Chana dhal-1 spoon
Curry leaves-few
Coriander leaves-few
Onion-2(finely chopped)
Tomatoes-1(finely chopped)
Green chillies-5(slit)
Ginger-1 piece(finely chopped)
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Asafoetida-1 tsp
Rava-500 gms(2 1/2 cups)
Rock salt-2 1/2 spoon
Water-7 1/2 cup
Beans-6(finely chopped)
Carrot-1(finely chopped)
Capsicum-1(finely chopped)
Cashew nuts-10
Recipe:
Roast the rava in a kadai slightly and transfer to a plate. Now keep the same kadai, add 2 tbsp of oil and 1 tbsp of ghee. After it gets heated add the whole spices one by one, cashewnuts and saute till golden brown. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dhal and let it splutter. Add few curry leaves, 2 onions(finely chopped), 1 tomato(finely chopped) and saute till its mushy. Add 5 green chillies(slit), Ginger and garlic(finely chopped). Add beans, carrot and capsicum and saute well. Add turmeric powder and Asafoetida each one tsp, 2 1/2 tbsp of rock salt and mix well. Now add 7 1/2 cups of water for 500 gms rava and let it boil. After the water starts boiling, Add the 500 gms rava and mix it continously without any lumps keeping the flame in low. When the water is absorbed add a spoon full of ghee and a few coriander leaves and mix it well. Rava kichadi is now ready and can be served hot with Coconut chutney and dhal sambar.
