Chana Masala/Chole Masala recipe/Side dish for Poori, chole poori and chapathi/Restaurant style chole masala/Chana gravy recipe

Chana Masala
Chana Masala recipe is a very healthy and yummy curry recipe which is a great side dish for poori, chapathi and any rotis.
Chana is very healthy as it is rich in fibre content. This recipe is easy to make and can be done quickly.
Let's get started with the recipe.
Note:Chana should be soaked overnight or atleast for 8 hrs
Serves-5
Cooking Time-15 mins
Adjust the Ingredients according to the number of people you cook for.
Ingredients
Chana-250 gms
Onions-2(thinly sliced)
Tomato-1(chopped)
Ginger-1 small piece
Garlic-4 cloves
Fennel seeds-1 tbsp
Oil-2 tbsp
Rock salt-1 1/2 spoon
Sugar-1 spoon
Salt-1 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Red chilli powder-1 spoon
Coriander powder-1 1/2 spoon
Chana masala-2 spoons
Green chilli-2(slit)
Bay leaf-2
Star anise-2
Cardomom-1
Cinnamon-2
Coriander leaves-few
Recipe
Take a Pressure cooker, add 250 gms of soaked chana(soaked 8 hrs or overnight) and pressure cook for 5 whistles adding 1 1/2 tsp of salt. After the pressure is released, transfer the well cooked chana to a bowl.
To grind the Onion paste, take a mixer jar and add 2 thinly sliced onions, 1 small piece of ginger, 4 garlic cloves and 1 spoon of fennel seeds. Grind them to a fine paste.
Take 1 tomato(roughly chopped) and grind to a fine paste.
Take 50 gms of boiled chana and grind to a paste in a mixer jar. This is done to get the thickness of the gravy.
Take a kadai, add 2 tbsp of oil, add the whole spices one by one given in the Ingredients and saute a little. Add the Grinded onion paste, 1/2 tsp of salt and saute till raw smell goes. Add 1 tsp of turmeric powder, grinded tomato paste and saute well. Add 2 green chillies(slit). Add a little water and 1 1/2 spoons of rock salt and let it boil for a minute.
Add 1 spoon of red chilli powder, 1 1/2 spoon of coriander powder and 2 spoons of chana masala and mix well. Now add grinded chana paste and mix well. Next add the boiled chana along with it's water and mix well. Let it boil for 5 mins. Add 1 spoon of sugar(optional) for taste. Finally garnish it with coriander leaves.
Serve it with hot pooris or chapathis and enjoy the dish.
